Approximately 1,600 corporate and administrative service employees work at offices within Midtown Exchange, site of the historic Sears retail complex at Chicago Avenue and E. Lake Street. This community landmark, adjacent to the campus of Allina's Abbott Northwestern Hospital, is the second largest building in Minnesota and includes offices, an internationally themed public market and residential units. Responsibilities The primary purpose of the Research Nurse position is to provide supervised clinical and operational management of neuro-oncology based research protocols.

The Research Nurse is responsible for providing care for patients enrolled in clinical trials, ensuring that patient care meets standards of safety, effectiveness, patient rights and guest relations. Under supervision of the senior team members, coordinates plan of care, provides education for patients; collaborates with other disciplines and provides direct patient care. Key responsibilities for this position include: Assist with study start up activities including but not limited to participating in pre-study visits, creating source documentation and formulating plan of care Perform screening activities and determine patient eligibility, obtaining informed consent, randomize patients into studies, coordinate patient care throughout the clinical trial, and assure study compliance Perform as a data manager for research protocols, complete case report forms and adverse event forms. Interact with study monitors and other staff to assure accurate and precise data Complete patient tracking logs in a timely and accurate basis in accordance with protocol guidelines Provide input in the timely reporting of adverse events and protocol responses/outcomes to the Allina IRB as well as study sponsors Perform in drug accountability in conjunction with rest of the study team and record drug accountability information in compliance to federal and departmental guidelines as well as protocol requirements Demonstrate a high level of written and verbal communication skills & effectively communication with staff, providers, patients/family & outside agencies Accountable for patient care outcomes.

Applies specialty certification and/or specialty knowledge in clinical practice. Maintains source documentation per institutional, federal and protocol standards Serve as advocate for patients on research trials as well as proper conduct of research and compliance with the protocol requirements Must be able to command high credibility with professionals and be able to work directly with variety of physicians, nurses, pharmacists, etc. to ensure accurate and informed participation in clinical research projects Qualifications Education/Experience: Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing (BSN) Recent oncology focused research experience preferred 1-2years of clinical and/or hospital experience in oncology required Research experience within any speciality preferred, with demonstrated understanding of regulatory and compliance requirements for clinical research Current Minnesota RN license, OCN preferred Skills: The Nurse Researcher must be able to demonstrate commitment to collaborative professional relationships with physicians and all members of the heath care team In addition, employee should be able to display a high level of responsibility, ethical practice, sensitivity to a diverse patient population and adherence to legal and regulatory requirements He/she should possess the technical proficiency required to do the job as well as up-to-date knowledge in the profession He/she should demonstrate high degree of planning and organizational skills Proficient computer skills in Word, Excel, Outlook, and Internet are necessary Prior experience in electronic data capture systems (e.g. Inform) preferred Pay,Benefits, & Work Schedule Full-time: 40 hours/week Day Shift No weekends Exempt Non Contract Location/Community Information Minneapolis boasts being both cosmopolitan yet small enough that you can find a place to call home whether on a lake, golf course, or in an adjoining suburb.
