The Pre-op Nursing Registered Nurse is a healthcare professional who practices within the scope of the Minnesota Nurse Practice Act. He/she is skilled in all ph! ases of the nursing process and possesses leadership qualities to direct assigned patients and personnel. The RN is competent to provide care to patients of all age groups.

Job Responsibilities:
·

Utilizes skills of observations, interview, patient history, and physical assessment to collect data from the patient and/or others to identify variables affecting care

·

Conducts and documents data in patient’s medical records

·

Forwards and communicates the information to appropriate team members for proper follow-up

·

Assesses the educational needs of patients and provides necessary education for the surgical process

·

Accurately assesses and evaluates patient care needs, and documents findings in patient’s chart

·

Demonstrates flexibility to adapt to change

·

Demonstrates flexibility in schedule

·

Exhibits qualit! ies of dependability, leadership, and independence

·!

Reorders/stocks supplies as needed in department

·

Is able to effectively communicate with good CSE qualities to others in the organization

·

Maintains an organized work environment by being accountable for delegation and completion of tasks

·

Contributes to department cohesiveness and follows proper chain of command

·

Assists with training of new staff

·

Directs patient care including: communication, setting up of appointments, assisting with communication to other providers, answering questions, giving education and instructions in a timely, effective manner

·

Maintains confidentiality

·

Is willing to work together in a team effort with anesthesia to provide the best patient care

·

Is knowledgeable regarding information that needs to be communicated to anesthesia for surgical procedures

·
Communicates with co-workers when there are personnel issues

·

Follows requirements for necessary data collection that needs to be documented on a patient’s records

·

Is a part of the Rapid Response Team at the Rochester Southeast Clinic setting

Qualifications:
·

Graduate of an accredited school of registered nursing

·

Current Minnesota Licensure

·

ACLS certified
