Allina Commons is the Minneapolis-based headquarters of Allina Health, a not-for-profit health care organization serving patients and communities. Responsibilities

Responsible for contributing to the development, implementation, and management of dr! ug policies for Allina Health. Frequent interaction with medical staff and other health care professionals is required

Conducts analysis of drug product selections, including participating in the clinical review of all new drug entities, the development of drug formulary addition or denial recommendations, and the analysis of clinical programs that influence prices by altering the use of patterns of various medications (market share programs, therapeutic interchange programs, etc.) These functions influence clinical decision making for Allina Health

Participates in the development of drug and disease state based clinical practice guidelines that also influence clinical practice. This responsibility includes providing biomedical literature evaluations to various other committees as needed

Provides drug information consultation to health care practitioners (including physicians, pharmacists, nurses, etc.) These consultations often require detailed e! valuation of multiple references, as well as the biomedical literature.! Exceptional communication skills (both verbally and written) are required to respond to these consultation requests as many clinical decisions (patient therapy decisions) are made on the basis of the consultation responses

Assures on going improvements in the activities of Allina Pharmacy through personal continuing education, collaborative problem solving, research, and participation in the organizational performance improvement program

This position has independent responsibility for organizing and planning daily activities in order to accomplish daily goals, as well as broader departmental and organizational goals and objectives

Education

BS or PharmD required

Qualifications

Experience

Preferred

Skills

Pharm D or advanced practice pharmacy degree required

Residency training in pharmacy practice, drug information, or pharmacy administration preferred

Knowledge of educationa! l and experiential methods, with teaching experience preferred

Expertise in drug literature evaluation and statistics

Outstanding verbal and written communication skills (English language required)

Computer Skills

Familiarity with drug use evaluation methods

Experience in drug policy analysis and formulary management

Licensure/Certification

MN Pharmacy License or eligible for MN License
