Under general supervision is responsible for professional level counseling and consulting services for a county social se! rvices/human services agency. Duties include intake, assessments, individual and group psychotherapy, and related work as assigned.
Examples of Duties:
- Conducts individual, family and group counseling.
- Assists in administering and interpreting psychological tests.
- Conducts marriage counseling to modify the interaction of couples.
- Consults with human service professionals to determine the need or obtain guidance in the mental health assessment/study of clients.
- Intervenes in client crisis situations.
- Coordinates activities with social service agencies and other organizations and makes necessary arrangements for the utilization of these resources by clients.
- Consults with social service workers, physicians, teachers, ministers, and other concerned professionals, lay persons and students to explain and promote health services and to obtain individual and public cooperation.
- May give tes! timony in connection with court cases.
- Maintains log ! of therapy sessions and client's progress and records essential information to client's record.
- Conducts therapy and case management of mentally ill patients on provisional or permanent release from state hospitals.
Master's degree from an accredited college in social work, clinical psychiatric nursing, counseling/clinical psychology, or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree in psychology or social work and licensed as a psychologist or as an LICSW. Candidates with prior experience in mental health services or bilingual (Spanish).
Examination Process:
The examination procedure will consist entirely of a rating of education and experience.
