The Chief Nursing Executive (CNE) is a transformational leader who creates organizational coherence by directing nursing activities that enable the virtually integrated organization (University of Minnesota Medical Center with UMPhysicians)
to consistently
provide exceptional clinical care, exceptional patient and family experience, efficient use of resources, strategic growth and nation-leading research, innovation, evidence-based practice and education across the continuum. The CNE has ultimate responsibility for meeting patient needs and is responsible for integrating the planning, organizing, and directing of patient care for the functionally integrated organizations.
The CNE will lead the development and implementation of clinical nursing practice model that reflects and drives best practices in academic health environments and creates an environment to facilitate team actions that produce results. The CNE will work closely in a relationship with Chief Medical Officer as well as with other inter professional team members. The CNE will establish strong relationships with nursing leaders and educators from University of Minnesota Academic Health Center to ensure ongoing advancement of professional nursing practices and continuous (ongoing) improvement in clinical outcomes throughout the organization. In addition, this role will partner with Chief Nursing Officers from across Fairview to enable consistent practices, standards, evaluation and adherence to common standards of competency of nursing care across Fairview’s hospitals and medical centers.
Job Qualifications:
Minimum Education:
Masters Degree in Nursing
Preferred Education/Preparation
Doctorate degree
Minimum Experience
7 to 10 years of progressive managerial experience in patient care area. Experience in leading patient care in a complex academic health system. Proven track record as nursing executive whose organization delivers excellent patient care within a major health system, subsidiary or operating unit.
Preferred Experience:
Prefer the experience to be within the last 5 years within a complex academic hospital environment at a senior level functioning with direct P&L accountability.
