POSITION SUMMARY

The Human Resources Compliance Specialist will work closely with the human resources manager to ensure that the company maintains compliance with all existing governmental and labor legal and government reporting requirements. This position will also be involved in other duties including recruiting and staffing, employe! e relations, benefits administration, performance management a! nd improvement systems. Human resources serves as a link between an organization’s management and its employees.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Leads company compliance with all existing governmental and labor legal and government reporting requirements including any related to the Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), the Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA), the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA), the Department of Labor, worker compensation, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and so forth. Maintains minimal company exposure to lawsuits

Completes the company Affirmative Action Plan and Compliance Report

Maintains management guidelines by preparing, updating, and recommending human resource policies and procedures

Provide assistance in updating the company’s Employee Handbook

Track and compile job descriptions for various jobs within the ! company

Ensure that the Summary Plan Descriptions of each benefit is updated to meet legal requirements

Establishes and leads the standard recruiting and hiring practices and procedures necessary to recruit and hire a superior workforce including selecting and interviewing top final candidates

Plan and conduct new employee orientation to foster positive attitude toward organizational objectives

Provide current and prospective employees with information about policies, job duties, working conditions, wages, opportunities for promotion and employee benefits

Maintain records and compile statistical reports concerning personnel-related data such as hires, transfers, performance appraisals, and absenteeism rates. Keeps past and current records

Maintains the work structure by updating job requirements and job descriptions for all positions.

Assists in the implementation of the performance management system that includ! es performance reviews and development plans

Maintains employe! e benefits programs and informs employees of benefits by studying and assessing benefit needs and trends; recommending benefit programs to management; directing the processing of benefit claims; obtaining and evaluating benefit contract bids; awarding benefit contracts; designing and conducting educational programs on benefit program

Leads the development of benefit orientations and other benefits training for employees and their families

Investigate and report on industrial accidents for insurance carriers

Create a process for employees going on a leave or exiting the company

Reviews, guides, and approves management recommendations for employment terminations.

Conduct exit interviews to identify reasons for employee termination

Perform difficult staffing duties, including dealing with understaffing, hearing and resolving employee grievances; advises managers and supervisors in the progressive discipline system of the co! mpany, monitors the implementation of a performance improvement process with non-performing employees

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s Degree required

PHR/SPHR Certification a plus

3-5 years of human resources experience preferably in a small company or startup environment for both onsite and remote employees.

Ability to multi-task and work with limited direction while maintaining an attention to detail in a fast-paced environment

High degree of entrepreneurial spirit, initiative, accountability, creativity, commitment, energy and drive; ability to prioritize and focus on first things first

Good judgment with the ability to make timely and sound decisions based on data and business acumen

Ability to operate successfully with strategic and tactical level issues and to effectively manage multiple and diverse issues.

Excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to develop and foster relationships wit! h employees at all levels of the organization.

Excellent prese! ntation, verbal and written communication, listening and consultative skills

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

Team player demonstrating enthusiasm and commitment to company vision and mission

Advanced computer skills, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
