Summary:

We are seeking a Junior Andrologist who is independently responsible for all the complex andrology lab procedures required for infertility care and In-Vitro Fertilization (IVF). The Andrologist consults and advises other staff, groups, members regarding andrology/chemistry procedures and outcomes and is responsible for the ordering, scheduling, and processing of patient testing. The Andrologist works in a collaborative relationship with the IVF Laboratory Director and other lab and nursing team staff.

The schedule for this position is Monday to Friday 8:00am- 4:00pm with required holiday and weekend rotation.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the daily running and administration of the andrology laboratory with minimal supervision and oversight.
  • Maintain and monitor quality control measures & clinical data to ensure optimal laboratory performance and pregnancy outcomes.
  • Develop and contribute to improving all laboratory procedures.
  • Perform duties in accordance with laboratory policy including: the routine examination and analysis of semen samples before and during treatment cycles; preparation of semen specimens for treatment procedures; sperm cryopreservation procedures.
  • Responsible for media preparation, paperwork preparation for IUI and chemistry reports, sperm preparation for IUI and for sperm survival tests, conducting semen analysis with morphology, and Tosoh operation.
  • Perform comprehensive semen analysis, including sperm count, motility, progression, morphology, and viability (if indicated)
  • Data collection and submission for compliance reviews, re-certifications, and submissions of data to specified organizations.
  • Ensure optimal productivity and efficiency.
  • Maintain sperm cryopreservation records and storage of cryopreserved sperm.
  • Work such hours as may be required for the proper, effective, and timely performance of the andrology laboratory, including weekends, according to the operational needs of the department and in support of the smooth and efficient running of the service.
  • Maintain quality control and assurance of the laboratory for the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) compliance reviews.
  • Be aware of clinical data outcomes and be able to discuss with the clinical care team and/or physicians.
  • Ensure that the physical and environmental conditions of the laboratory are appropriate for the testing performed and provide a safe environment in which employees are protected from physical, chemical, and biological hazards.
  • Coordinate Testicular Sperm Aspirations with outside physicians when required.
  • Meticulously follow detailed laboratory standard operating procedures as well as comply with all safety policies.

Requirements:

•High school diploma or GED required.

  • Bachelor’s degree in medical or biological sciences strongly preferred.
  • Certified Lab Scientist (CLS) strongly preferred.
  • IVF clinic experience is preferred.

Pay: $29.00 - $33.00 per hour
