Summary:
The Clinical Documentation Improvement Manager performs on-site medical record reviews, by examining and assessing all patient documentation to ensure that all information including the illness diagnosis is accurate and facilitates improvement in the overall quality, completeness, and accuracy of medical record documentation. The individual will perform concurrent inpatient medical record reviews. The position interacts with physicians, Health Information Management (HIM) coding staff, and other healthcare team members to ensure the accuracy and completeness of clinical documentation that supports resource utilization, length of stay, and patient outcomes. On an ongoing basis, educate all members of the patient care team and participate in developing educational tools and programs for the health care team. The individual will collect and analyze data to determine the effectiveness and efficiency of clinical documentation processes and physician participation.
Requirements:
Preferred: Current valid CA RN License or RHIA/RHIT or CCS credential or experience in Case Management/Utilization Review and familiarity with coding concepts. Proficient in Electronic Medical Record (EMR) software, such as E-Clinical Works and Praxis. A minimum of 2 years experience in a similar role. Advanced knowledge of best practices in medical recordkeeping. In-depth knowledge of medical terminology, coding, and procedures. Extensive experience in collecting and interpreting medical information, as well as training staff. Ability to keep informed of advancements and regulations in clinical documentation. Excellent organizational and communication skills. Current AHA BLS Certification..
