In the School of Nursing-College of Health Sciences, we possess CCNE accreditation for our BSN and MSN programs. We are currently accepting applications for a Clinical Placement Supervisor within our MSN program.

This position will be based out of our Minneapolis, MN office.

GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Clinical Placement Supervisor is responsible for managing the practicum/field experience processes for the School of Nursing in the College of Health Sciences. This is a full-time position that will report to the Associate Dean (or designee) and work closely with academic leadershi! p, faculty/specialization coordinators, program directors, aca! demic advising, and Central Office of Field Experience.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist School of Nursing students in completing and gaining faculty approval for practicum application materials and locating field placement sites as needed.

Manage and supervise members of the SON field education coordinators (FEC) team.

Appraise performance of each FEC and set goals and priorities.

Approve preceptor applications in collaboration with Associate Dean, Program Directors, Coordinators, and faculty.

Liaise with the Central Office of Field Experience to facilitate timely completion of affiliation agreements and to coordinate with FEC across the university.

Transform or streamline the processes in the FEC office to eliminate redundancy and align operational processes around the needs of the students, preceptors, and agencies.

Interface with academic partners to ensure clear understanding of prog! ram elements such as admissions requirements, course curriculum, program outcomes, and professional accreditations.

Help to hire, train and mentor new team members

Arranges clinical placements in a variety of settings across a variety of nursing programs (BSN, MSN, DNP)

Operates from a solid understanding of nursing education and practice, combined with knowledge of the organizational environments where nurses practice.

Responsible for the identification and assessment of concerns related to clinical experiences; facilitates appropriate intervention with faculty and program coordinators.

Track and maintain student field education files, field education applications, field placement site information, and preceptor database.

Develop and/or maintain mechanisms to communicate practicum experience policies and procedures to students, academic advising, program directors, and faculty/specialization coordinators.

Manag! e and administer student survey tool to monitor student practicum progr! ess and satisfaction.

Update field education forms and website materials as necessary. Where practicum forms/documents are lacking, the coordinator will assume initiative with developing them.

Maintain a field education manual outlining the mission, purpose, and objectives of the field experience as well as description of all field training policies and procedures.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
May perform other duties and responsibilities that management may deem necessary from time to time.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Master of Science in Nursing degree required.

At least five years of experience in nursing that includes: an understanding of the educational experiences of undergraduate and graduate student needs, an understanding of the clinical practice of nursing, students, and a knowledge of the diverse organizational environments in which nurses practice.

BUSINESS COMPETENCIES:
The individual must possess the following knowledge, skill! s, and abilities to effectively be able to perform the essential functi! ons of the job.

Experience in management or supervisory role in a healthcare or education setting.

Excellent analytical, problem solving, written and verbal communication, detail-oriented, multitasking, and organizational skills.

Excellent time management skills, able to set and meet deadlines

Creative, innovative, strategic, and able to work independently with faculty, undergraduate and graduate students.

Able to anticipate future trends and problems and plan for them accordingly.

Demonstrate proficiency in operating a Windows-based platform and learn Walden's administrative database.

Ability to travel as business needs require.

Experience in online distance-learning environment a plus.

Experience working with undergraduate and graduate students in an educational environment.

PROBLEM SOLVING:
Update field education forms and website materials as necessary. Where practicum f! orms/documents are lacking, the coordinator will assume initiative with developing them.

Operates from a solid understanding of nursing education and practice, combined with knowledge of the organizational environments where nurses practice.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work is performed primarily in a standard office environment, but may involve exposure to moderate noise levels. Work involves operation of personal computer equipment for six to eight hours daily and includes physical demands associated with a traditional office setting , e.g., walking, standing, communicating, and other physical functions as necessary.
