  • Bachelor's degree in health sciences, aging/gerontology, exercise physiology or related field;
  • Minimum of two ye! ars of project management experience and/or minimum of one year of exercise trainer or equivalent experience;
  • Minimum of one year of database development and management;
  • Minimum of one year preparing and managing budgets;
  • Demonstrated mastery of and at least one year experience demonstrating advanced computer skills (Excel, Access, Powerpoint, Word, SPSS, REDCap);
  • Ability to assume independent responsibility for day-to-day Center coordination;
  • Demonstrated/documented knowledge of website management and social media (Facebook, Twitter, etc.);
  • Demonstrated strong organizational skills; ability to perform multiple tasks and set priorities within the context of coordinating an advanced education nursing project with multiple objectives related to curriculum and student recruitment;
  • Demonstrated/documented excellent and effective written (technical, promotional, and professional writing) and oral communications skill! s with at least one year experience using these skills;
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse older adults and minority persons, entities, and underserved communities;
  • CPR certification
Preferred:
  • Master's degree in health sciences, aging/gerontology, exercise physiology or related field;
  • Experience with working with older adults with Alzheimer's disease;
  • Experience with providing exercise fitness training to older adults;
  • Experience with recruiting research subjects, planning recruitment events, supervising others;
  • Experience or knowledge in gerontology;
  • Advanced Life Support certified;
  • Five years project management experience;
  • Three years preparing and managing budgets;
  • Experience working in a university environment
Duties/Responsibilities

Administrative (50%)

Provide overall coordination and project management for the objectives of the NIA-funded clinical trial, Aerobic Exercise i! n Alzheimer's Disease: Cognition and Hippocampal Volume Effect (The FIT-AD Trial);

Manage flow of events and project activities and make necessary adjustments to ensure that operational components associated with the project (communications, subject recruitment, staff training, subject exercise training, data collection, equipment needs, etc.) are completed;

In collaboration with the principal investigator (PI), ensure that the project plans are implemented according to timelines and within budget, including the provision of support/guidance to project faculty to ensure that project objectives, timelines and deliverables are met;

Select, interview, hire, and train research assistants (RAs) to make sure the study is appropriately staffed. Supervise all RAs to ensure all study activities are completed timely and with quality;

Plan and conduct systematic, on-going evaluation of study activities and outcomes, all personnel's satisfaction of o! ngoing IRB training;

Organize the investigator, DSMB, and rese! arch staff meetings.

Subject Recruitment, Screening, and Exercise Training (40%)

Organize and schedule subject recruitment to ensure meeting of annual recruitment target;

Prepare and/or oversee the preparation of recruitment and publicity materials for the study;

Develop and oversee all recruitment strategies and ensure their timeliness and accuracy;

Establish and maintain relationships with external agencies and community partners as appropriate to ensure reaching subject recruitment targets each year;

Prepare and/or oversee the preparation of publicity materials for the project;

Facilitate regular and timely communication with the PI, staff and offices within the School of Nursing, Academic Health Center, University, and community partners;

During subject screening, obtain informed consent/assent and HIPPA authorization, administer the CDR, and supervise data collection and exercise delivery to ensure! subject safety;

Provide individualized exercise training to study subjects;

Facilitate regular and timely communication with external audiences associated with the projects;

Coordinate care for subjects in case of emergency.

Data management (5%)

Develop study materials and databases for data collection and track adverse events;

In collaboration with PI, establish and maintain system for evaluating study outcomes;

Coordinate, organize and manage collection, updating and storage of data to ensure timely and efficient retrieval of data for reports, tracking, decision-making, grant writing;

Evaluate data base options to facilitate effective grants management.

Budget/Fiscal (5%)

Administer and monitor budgets;

Analyze budgetary data;

Verify University and SoN budget reports;

Prepare, direct and/or collaborate in the preparation of written reports to the NIA, Scho! ol of Nursing administration and other University offices.

Pro! gram/Unit Description

School of Nursing Adult and Gerontological Health Cooperative Unit. This position will provide day-to-day management and coordinate all study activities for the FIT-AD Trial at the University of Minnesota School of Nursing. This clinical trial is funded by the National Institute on Aging of the National Institutes of Health. This is a 5-year grant, scheduled to end in 2018. During this period, continuation of employment is contigent upon acceptable performance.
