This position is included in a bargaining unit of Housing Works’ New York City employees represented by a labor union known as the Retail Wholesale and Department Store Union (“RWDSU”). Accordingly, the RWDSU has the exclusive right to bargain over the terms and conditions of employment related to this position and this position may become covered by the terms of a collective bargaining agreement (a “CBA”) between Housing Works and the RWDSU

Compensation Range: $18.50/hr - $20.40/hr commensurate with experience

Overview:
The Budtender is responsible for providing our customers with an extraordinary experience. Through meaningful interaction and knowledgeable answers, the Budtender fosters an environment that is compassionate, genuine, and respectful. Budtenders are expected to contribute to making their Dispensary a climate that encourages forward-thinking, embraces inclusion, and practices generosity of spirit. Budtenders also assist the Management Team with the activities and operations of the store, while abiding by policies, procedures, and operational guidelines.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides knowledge, expertise, guidance, and a personalized experience to each customer by explaining the potential benefits of the Cannabis products offered.
  • Ensures customer questions or concerns are resolved quickly, completely, and discretely.
  • Communicate any requests or unresolved concerns to management immediately.
  • Assist management staff in ensuring all policies and procedures are being followed to reflect regulatory and compliance standards.
  • Communicate the effects of different types of cannabis to customers clearly and effectively.
  • Ensure strict controls to protect organization assets at the direction of management.
  • Comply with all merchandising, cleanliness, and display maintenance policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for opening and closing of the store and maintaining brand standards and store operations.
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with all Housing Works’ policies and procedures.
  • Constantly review store environment to improve operations and merchandising.
  • Work closely with Management to improve personal product knowledge of marijuana strains, (indicas, sativas, hybrids), edibles, extracts, and current products on the market
  • Comply with all register operations, visual merchandising techniques, and store maintenance standards.
  • Ensure store is merchandised in accordance with Housing Works standards. This would include but is not limited to creating exciting displays, displays that promote upcoming events, and execute floor plans that feature and highlight premium quality product.
  • Understand and fully implement Housing Works’ customer service program, showcasing exemplary customer service, including but not limited to greeting, saying thank you, explaining policies clearly and politely to the satisfaction of the customer, and by prioritizing assisting customers over all other shop tasks.
  • To be able to service multiple customers at one time with courtesy and sincerity.
  • Actively promote Housing Works mission at all stations and at all times.
  • Cultivate relationships with repeat customers in order to serve them better.
  • Perform all other duties as directed by supervisor and/or executive management
  • Ensure store is in compliance with all branding guidelines, including but not limited to signage, brochures, and promotional events.
  • Promote a positive work-atmosphere by communicating with coworkers, supervisors, and customers cordially and effectively.
  • Assist with marketing store in neighborhood.
Minimum Requirements
  • High School Diploma or the equivalent
  • Must stay current and adhere to all policies and regulations of the state cannabis agency.
  • Must meet age requirement as outlined by state cannabis agency.
  • Knowledge of marijuana strains, (indicas, sativas, hybrids), edibles, extracts, and current products on the market a plus.
  • Able to pass all background checks as required by state cannabis agency.
  • Able to accommodate scheduling that may include varied shifts, weekends and holidays.
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with customers and team members.
  • Prior customer service experience in hospitality, pharmacy, customer services, or retail environment.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and web-based email applications
  • Basic mathematical skills to include adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing, and calculating percentages
  • This role requires the candidate to be at least 21 years and older
