Job Description
Functions as an interdisciplinary team member to meet patient and family care needs within the Mayo Clinic Dialysis Services (MCDS) system. Under the supervision of the RN, is responsibility for providing assistance in the provision of dialysis services. Carries out designated skills that are within those functions limited by law to unlicensed nursing personnel. Occasionally requires working at an alternate Mayo dialysis unit.
Basic Qualifications:
A minimum education of a high school graduate or GED. Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification. Completion of a certified nurse aide training course required OR 1 year of direct patient care experience in a hospital setting or other health care setting OR a RN student with 1 semester of clinical coursework completed. Successful completion of pre-employment screening for basic ma! th skills, reading comprehension and attention to detail. Inte! rnal candidates should submit their three most recent performance appraisals.
Other Qualifications:
Successful completion of Hemodialysis Patient Care Technician program or previous hemodialysis experience. Establish and maintain effective, interpersonal relationships with a variety of people. Adapt to unpredictable situations within the dialysis care setting. Flexibility to adjust schedule to meet patient care needs.
License or Certification:
All Patient Care Technicians hired after October 14, 2008 must pass a national certification exam offered by the State, BONENT, NNCC, or NNCO and receive their Certified Clinical Hemodialysis Technician (CCHT) license within 18 months of hire date. Patient Care Technicians hired before 14 October 2008 must have passed a certification exam by April 10, 2010. Any Patient Care Technician who has not passed the certification exam within this time frame will be placed on an unpaid leave of absence of! up to 3 months to allow time for them to pass the exam. If the exam has not been successfully completed by that time, employment will be terminated.
Exemption Status: Non-exempt
Hours/Pay Period: 48 hours per 2 week pay period
Schedule Details: Variable 10-hour shifts (start as early as 4:30 a.m. and work as late as 5 p.m.) â€" NOT NEGOTIABLE
Weekend Schedule: Every other Saturday
Compensation Detail: Education, experience, and tenure along with internal equity may be considered when job offer is extended. The minimum pay rate is $14.86 per hour.
